WIGS, HAIRPIECES & EXTENSIONS

Mary Gill is a Registered Expert Witness in all aspects of Trichology, Hairdressing and Wigmaking.
She is experienced in Report Writing and, when required, Court Appearances.

MARY GILL'S TRICHOLOGICAL PREPARATIONS

A few examples of M.G. TRICHOLOGICAL shampoos, conditioners and control cremes/sprays:

SHAMPOOS

JUNIPER/OILS SHAMPOO

An extremely gentle, cleansing-agent containing a combination of oils  including eucalyptus, tea-tree and juniper berries.  It is antiseptic, anti-fungal and anti-parasitic as well as being a gentle, soothing cleanser. It is ideal for dry/sensitive scalp, psoriasis or for just generally keeping the scalp supple and healthy.  It also cleanses the hair gently without stripping it of oils and moisture.  The oils contained in the shampoo lightly coat the hair leaving it moisturized and healthy looking. The scalp is left moisturized and comfortable.

LAVENDER OIL SHAMPOO

Specifically for chemically treated hair as it cleanses the hair gently while relaxing and soothing the scalp. It has been formulated not to lather very much.

WHEATGERM OIL & HONEY SHAMPOO

For hair that has not been chemically treated but is dry and out of condition. The  wheat germ oil and honey moisturizes the scalp and gently lubricates the hair leaving a silky effect: making the hair more manageable. Especially good for fine, fly-away hair.

WALNUT & JOJOBA OIL SHAMPOO

An extremely rich formula suitable for hair which is naturally lacking in moisture.  It  helps control hair which can appear wild and wiry. The jojoba oil gives added protection  to the scalp against sun, wind and cold: especially good where the hair is thinning or non-existent.

XT SHAMPOO

A pleasant, effective, natural treatment for head lice and eggs. The  shampoo is similar to Juniper Oil Shampoo with a different balance of oils for a stronger action against the parasite. The action is gentle on the scalp while it is effective at removing the lice and the eggs (nits).

Directions for all shampoos except XT Shampoo:-

• Wet hair
• Apply 5 to 10 ml shampoo
• Massage gently into the scalp
• For maximum benefit, leave for 15-20mins
• Rinse well and remove excess moisture
• Apply appropriate conditioner (see below)

Directions for XT Shampoo:-

• Apply 5 to 10 ml XT shampoo
• Massage gently into the scalp.
• Leave for 10 minutes.
• Apply water, lather and then rinse well
• Apply second application of shampoo
• Massage gently into the scalp
• Leave for 30 minutes
• Add water and lather up
• Rinse well and remove excess moisture
• Apply coconut oil conditioner
• Using a fine tooth comb: comb through the
  lengths of hair to remove the lice and eggs
  into a newspaper, for approx. 15mins
• Remove and burn the newspaper
• Rinse the hair well and remove excess moisture
• Repeat the procedure as above for 3 consecutive nights.
  Then every 2 or 3 nights; until all eggs are removed
• It is then advisable to treat, and comb through occasionally eg with children of school age, once a week

CONDITIONERS

COCONUT OIL CONDITIONER

Rich creamy conditioner, useful for almost any hair; especially dry, porous and chemically treated hair. It also leaves the scalp well moisturised.

• Shampoo hair with appropriate shampoo
• Remove excess moisture
• Apply 3-15ml conditioner (depending on length & condition)
• Massage gently into scalp and through the hair
• For maximum benefit, leave for 10-20mins
• Rinse well
• Towel dry
• Apply appropriate control/setting agent (examples follow)

Use after every shampoo.

WALNUT & JOJOBA OIL: INTENSIVE CONDITIONER

Use in place of coconut oil conditioner as a more intensive conditioning treatment every 2-6 weeks.  This conditioner is exceptionally rich that:-

• it is best left on for 30-60 minutes and then "steamed" (ie, leisurely bathe)
• the conditioner must be thoroughly rinsed off
• the wet hair will then feel slightly sticky, but don't worry, it is the richness
  of the oils and waxes. It will dry to a non-sticky shine

LEMON CONDITIONING MILK (LEAVE IN)

A very light conditioning milk which can be used on extremely fine hair. It can be rinsed off or left on for a tousled effect. It can also be used on any type of hair between shampoos (applied to dry hair) to help control and define curls.

STIMULANT CONDITIONER

A refreshing menthol conditioner which leaves the hair silky and the scalp feeling invigorated.

CONTROL CREMES & SPRAYS

CONTROL CREME with SUN-SCREEN

This is used instead of mousse or gel and does not contain plastic polymers or proteins or anything which is detrimental to the hair and scalp. It controls and protects the hair.

• Apply 3-10 ml evenly to wet hair (depending on the length & condition)
• Allow hair to dry naturally or set / blow-dry as required

If the hair feels at all sticky when dry; you have used too much.  Next time use only half the amount.

HAIR SHINE & SCALP MAINTENANCE

Combination of oils and waxes beneficial to the scalp as well as giving the hair lustre/shine and protection.  There are two strengths, Gentle (provides extra protection before using hot brush or heated rollers) and Extra Hold (ideal for spiky styles and afro-caribbean hair).  Apply a small amount to the hair when dry and massage gently into scalp.

ROSEMARY & NETTLE TONIC/SHINE (SPRAY)

This is a tonic for the scalp which also gives the hair a beautiful gloss finish.  There are two formulas; one with added jasmine, the other with chamomile.  Both are good for the scalp and have an uplifting fragrance. Males usually prefer chamomile for themselves but females enjoy both fragrances. Simply spray onto dry hair.
